We have a Hitachi 50FX48B where it shuts off for no reason. There are no red lights on the front or anything. We would wait for awhile then we can turn it back on, then it shuts down when it feels like it. We were told that it might be a resistor #51, if so, where can we purchase one and is there instructions on the web on where it is located and how to replace it?
If it is shutting off, you can have many things shutting it off. Hitachis are riddled with protect circuits. Excessive current draw from many circuits could cause a shutdown. Best bet is to pull back off and watch green lights on power board, first light off is usually a suspect circuit that would be good to look at (assuming you have one that goes out immedieatley). Some have had flakey regulators also.
Since this is an older non HD set, I would suspect regulator and a large Sandblock current sense resistor mounted right next to it, part / Location #'s elude me at this moment, but they are on the deflection PCB close to where the ac goes into the board from the power cord and fuse/ chokes.
