Question about Whirlpool 21.7 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator ED22PQXF
My Whirlpool side by side refrigerator is making a loud humming sound. In addition, it appears to be on permanent defrost because the panel at the front (on which doors magnetize to close), is very hot. How can I disconnect the autodefrost in this refrigerator?
DONT TOUCH ANYTHING. IF IT IS COOLING CORRECTLY LEAVE IT. LOUD HUMMING IS COMMON ON SOME COMPRESSORS.(ANNOYING I KNOW).THE HEATING ON THE FRONT IS NORMAL AS IT IS THE MULLON HEATERS WHICH RUN THROUGH THE FRAME. IF THAT AREA WERE COLD, CONDENSATION WOULD OCCUR AND WOULD DRIP CONTINUOUSLY.

Hey Joanne, I appreciate your inquiry!
Based off my understanding the freezer side of your Frigidaire refrigerator is making a loud humming noise. The humming sound could be coming from your compressor. If the sound is a new development it may be a possible issue with the fan pushing further against the wall. You may need to seek help from a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. This will help you from purchasing any unnecessary parts. Hope this information is helpful to you. -Matt
