CAN I USE ANY KIND OF USB CORD OR SOFTWARE FOR MY NIKON CAM.?

You also can download the new View NX from Nikon for free. Always first install the software, before connecting any device on your computer. Special what it is a device like a camera.

If you can get the pics using a card reader, why are you insisting on using the camera and USB cord? Pros always use a card reader.

Nikon comes with a great deal of really good software for ALL Operating Systems. DO NOT have your camera attached and re install the software that came with your camera. You may also go to: http://www.nikon.com and receive a download of the software related to your camera. After installed, turn your camera ON - Then plug the USB cable into the computer and then into the computer.

it wont show on window2000 it will show only in windowXP for window 2000 u need drivers cd of nikon coolpix install that 1st

FISRT U MUST CONFORM THAT UR WEB CAM IS IN USB MODE. MOSTLY IT WILL BE USB.

IF S, U TYPE USB NIKON WEBCAM SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD IN GOOGLE SEARCH AND DOWNLOAD IT FROM THE SITE.

THEN , INSTALL IT IN UR COMPUTER.....

as long as you have some kind of media software on your computer and the usb cable that connects to the camera and your computer, you should be able to just go to My Computer and open up the USB port and see your picutes in 'folder' form.

First you need the Nikon software to detect the camera especially in older operating systems.

The newest operating systems, even Linux should detect the camera as a portable drive or mass storage.

Another way is to use a card reader and eliminate completely the camera to computer drivers and software.

I always use the card reader instead of camera in most cases simply because I am using so many different kinds of cameras, it would not make sense to install software and drivers for every kind.

Did you unistall Coolpix before installing a new version?

See if that will work.
