Unresponsive Remote Control

Everytime a button is hit on the remote that came with the deck, not only does it not perform the selected action (such as playing a DVD) but it also flashes "7_U" on the Main Function Display. I have tried everything I could think of, especially messing around with the batteries, and the manual doesn't seem to address this dilemma of mine either. Does anyone know what "7_U" might stand for or mean and what I can do to get my remote to respond again? Thanks.

Why is Sky remote unresponsive?

Batteries are flat. Stand in front of a mirror and use the front facing camera of a smart phone so it can see the front of the remote. When you press the buttons, you should see a red flash!

Here are the steps to program your TIVO DirectTV RC65 remote control using Code Search:

  1. Turn on the TV or component.
  2. Slide the MODE switch to the TV, AV1 or AV2 position, as desired.
  3. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under the selected switch position flashes twice, then release both keys.
  4. Enter 9-9-1 followed by one of the following four digits: 0 for Sat box, 1 for TV, 2 for VCR/DVD/PVR, 3 for Stereo.
  5. Press PWR, or other functions (e.g. PLAY for VCR) you want to use.
  6. Point the remote at the TV or component and press CHAN UP. Repeatedly press CHAN UP until the TV or component turns off or performs the action you selected in step 5.
  7. Use the CHAN DOWN key to step back a code.
  8. When the TV or component turns off turns off or performs the action you selected in step 5, stop pressing the CHAN UP key. Then, press and release the SELECT key.
NOTE: If the light flashes 3 times before the TV or component responds, you've cycled through all codes and the code you need is not available.

If you know the 5-digit code you want to use, follow these steps.

I hope that helps.

I cannot get the light to turn off on my Hampton Bay fan. Everytime I turn the fan on the light also automatically turns on. The remote appears to be useless, everytime I hit the light/dimmer button...

Possible that the logic control within the fan unit is defective if is seems to switch on both. For a start you can try to clean the remote pads to confirm if the pads are accidentally contacting when pressed for one function. If dimmer works then the selection mode could be the culprit.

We need the device code of the panasonic Tc42px24 plasma HDTV thank

Hello
Panasonic TV's after 1996 can be set to "Serviceman Mode" with the
following remote control sequence:

-select the SET-UP icon and select CABLE mode.
-select the TIMER icon and set the SLEEP timer for 30 minutes.
-press the ACTION button twice to get out of the menus.
-change to channel 124.
-adjust the volume to minimum (0).
-Hit the VOL down button on the TV itself (not on
the remote) and a red "CHK" should appear in the upper corner.
-press the ACTION and VOLUME DOWN buttons (again, on the
TV, not the remote) you will toggle between AGING and SERVICEMAN modes.

Select Serviceman mode. The POWER button on the remote control will
select one of the five Serviceman Adjustment modes.

The modes are:

B - Serviceman VCJ SUB Adjustments. These include sub-tint,
sub-color, sub-brightness, sub-contrast, colorkiller/ABL/gamma,
audio and video adjustment, and vertical size.

C - Serviceman VCJ Cut-off adjustments. These include Red, Green
and Blue cut-off, red and blue drive, automatic fine tuning
(AFT), RF AGC (RF gain control), horizontal center, beam limit,
etc.

S - Serviceman Options Adjustments. These involce the PIP and
clock.

M - Serviceman MTS (Stereo/SAP) adjustments.

CHK - the mode you first entered. Normal picture and sound, lets
you check things over and still have a hotkey into the
service menu.

There is one more adjustment that isn't in the five modes, it's
global. When in either the yellow or red CHK mode, you can press
RECALL on the remote control to enter the purity field check mode.
This lets you select a pure white, red, green, or blue screen. A
good thing to walk away from if you just want to temporarily freak
out the floor manager, but it will be fixed as soon as the TV is
turned off. Oh well.

To get out of Serviceman mode, press ACTION and POWER on the
receiver simultaneously for at least 2 seconds. The TV will momentarily
shut off and then comes back on.

I recently had an avital 4103 remote start system installed in my 09 Chevy Silverado truck. The remote starts the truck perfectly everytime however the lock and unlock buttons dont unlock or lock everytime...

As an L1 ASE Master tech I ALWAYS advise against aftermarket alarm systems, however the problem you are experiencing is due to an action that is not being taken by the vehicles control modules. The installer should tie into the door control modules or find out why the body control module is recognizing the command for the locking/un-locking action, (hence the lighting response), but the doors are not taking appropriate action. I would have to look at live data in the vehicles control modules to see what modules are being commanded to do what. Take it back to the place where it was put in and tell them to fix it or refund it.

Good luck!

I lost the papers that tells me how to set it up sony rm-v210 remote control

Here ya go. Heres some brief instructions and a link to sony for the codes and full instructions
Follow these steps to program the remote control.
  1. Turn on the component to be programmed.
  2. On the remote control, press and hold the SET button until the SET indicator lights up.
  3. Press the appropriate component select button for the component being set up.
  4. Using the number pad, enter the component's manufacturer code.
  5. NOTE: If more than one code number is listed for the manufacturer, repeat the procedure, entering one code at a time until you find one that works.
  6. Press the ENTER button.
  7. Point the remote control at the component and press the POWER button.
NOTES:
  • If none of the codes listed for the manufacturer work, it may be necessary to try codes listed for other manufacturers or perform a search for the correct code. Consult the Operating Instructions provided with the remote control for steps on searching for the correct code.
  • If a new code number is entered, the code number previously entered will be erased.
  • When the batteries are replaced, the programmed codes may be erased. It may be necessary to reprogram the remote after replacing the batteries.
  • The operation of a combination deck of any kind is not guaranteed.
  • Some product functions may not be able to be controlled by the remote control. Use the remote control provided with the component.
  • In some rare cases, you may not be able to operate your non-Sony equipment with the supplied remote control. This is because your equipment may use a code that is not provided with this remote control. In this case, please use the equipment's own remote control.
  • If programming fails, it may be necessary to reset the remote control. To reset the remote control, remove the batteries and press each button on the remote control twice.
