A kind of memory card for some products as mobile, camera and so on, there are size kinds of SD card. Generally cameras using larger ones and mobile using smaller ones.
Your camera has only 32MB of internal memory, out of which only 13.5MB only is used for picture storage, which allows you to save only a few pictures. If you need to shoot more pictures you need to buy SD or SDHC cards or micro SD cards. If you buy micro SD card, then you also need to buy an SD adapter. SD adapte is very cheap, usually less than a dollar. The maximum size SD card you can use in Kodak Z915 is 32GB SDHC card. SD card sizes are available only upto 2GB. SDHC cards goes from 4GB to 32GB. Again these cards are rated based on their speed classes. It is preferable to buy Speed class 6 and above for good video recording. With higher speed class, speed increases. If you want to shoot pictures faster then you need higher speed class memory. Price of the card increases with the speed class. You can buy speed class 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10.
If you want to download your camera manual, try the following site: http://resources.kodak.com/support/pdf/en/manuals/urg00995/Z915_xUG_GLB_en.pdf

Most likely cause is the the SD Card is the wrong type. There are different types in the same size card.
Some cameras can only take a card to a certain volume in GB. You put a 5GB card in a camera that is only rated to 2GB and you will get an error.
Make you the Lock Protection tab is set to unlocked.
Remove battery, wait 2 minutes and try again.
The manual says this regarding format failure
The digital video camera cannot guarantee to perform formatting on all memory card formats. When this happens, please format the memory card on a PC as the FAT format.
Aug 23, 2019 - The SD Association devised a way to standardise the speed ratings for different cards. These are defined as 'Speed Class' and refer to the absolute minimum sustained write speeds. Cards can be rated as Class 2 (minimum write speed of 2MB/s), Class 4 (4MB/s), Class 6 (6MB/s) or Class 10 (10MB/s).
The SD card needs to be a high speed SD card. The speed of the SD cards are classified by Class no. I suggest you use Class 6 SD cards or higher. The higher the speed the higher the cost.
