Sanyo DP 42849 42'' lcd tv no audio no video

I have a sanyo DP 42849 42'' lcd tv. When I turn it on I get no picture or sound. The green light comes on steady but will go out for a second every 14 to 16 seconds. When I turned it off nothing strange happened, but an hour later when I went to turn it back on....NOTHING!. I looked at the boards and see no obvious signs of failure (bulging caps, burn marks etc.)I noticed no unusual noises or smells before the tv failed

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Sounds like an inverter problem. On some of these sets, the inverter and the power supply are on the same board. These boards tend to be quite pricey, $100 + range. I've worked on your particular model with the same problem, and it was a bad inverter/power supply board. I would recommend you get a diagnosis to be sure.
