Question about Heating & Cooling
Heat Pump, yes. Heat strips, no. A heat pump system that uses electric back up heat needs at least a 2 heat/1cool thermostat. It will have the options you need for your system. Unfortunately, your Honeywell will not work. Sorry, hope this helps!

the analog unit uses just two wires for heat. red - white. there is a heat anticipator setting that must match the burner current. check your programmable specs and follow instructions.

I don't know if this will be helpful or not, but I just installed a new Honeywell and the Honeywell customer service guy helped me get the wires done correctly. The number is 800-468-1502.
