More You could try taking a piece of foil and laying across the batteries top [onder the compartment lid ]to improve contact.

I had the same exact issue.... try putting it on the charger, even if you think it's fully charged... If the light is red, leave it on the charger until it turns green, and then remove the battery for a second and then put it back in the camera before turning it back on..... try turning it on. If it still won't close, put it back on the charger. If the charger is automatically indicating a red light, that means you have exhausted your battery and will nee a new one... they cost about 5-11 dollars on amazon...... hope that helps...

Does there is something happened when you turn on the camera? If you can heard sound made by the len or the camera try to open but turn off in a second? If so, there is something wrong with the lens, and this how to fix camera lens error will be helpful. Else, if the camera are without any reaction you can check it the joint of the camera to battery is well.

Camera still takes pictures but LCD screen remain black(lit, differnet from when screen is off) at all times. Batteries are fully charged.

Please make sure to check if the battery is fully charged. Second, check the menu option for battery saving mode and turn it off. If the battery is getting old and not charging fully anymore the priority of the camera is the shooting mode.

1. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera. Please make sure that you are installing a fresh/ fully charged battery c. Turn the camera on. 2. Without the memory card, turn your camera on. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty) 3. Canon 300d flash won't fire. Pops up ok but display just reads "busy" and camera locks up. Must turn on/off to get camera working. External flash works ok.

This may sound obvious, but have you tried to make surer the battery is fully charged and then see'ing if it still does this? The reason I suggest this is that I had a similar problem and when I fully charged the battery this problem went away. I tend to keep an extra battery (fully charged) plus the charger on hand at all times.

Stops while driving

this is usually due to a dirty throttle body. just beware if you do try to clean it you will need to preform the idle relearn procedure. this does work, ive done it personally.

A. Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning Procedure.
1. Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds (how would you know if you get it right?)

B. Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch is “ON”.
3. Turn ignition switch is “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound (i never get this right because i never heard anything)

C. Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)
It's best to time with a watch/clock.

1. Perform “Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning”.
2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Conform that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops
blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11 Wait 20 seconds
12Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications. (this is fine because SES light lets you know if you did it right the way it blinks)

The recycle time using flash gets worse pretty quickly if you are using the onboard flash. The delay is pretty much inversly proportional to the remaining charge in the battery. I.E. the less charge, the longer the time. This happens with any camera. You might check the time with fresh batteries (or freshly charged) and then after maybe 20 shots or so. I would not find 5 seconds atypical, but 10 seconds sounds like you are pretty close to dead battery. If you get 10 seconds at the start of a fresh battery, then you may have a problem. Also, capacitor charge time can vary from capacitor to capacitor and a 1-2 second variation between camera flash units, either onboard or off board is probably normal. Age of capacitor can also have an effect.
