Take the batteries out and clean the contacts Those at the bottom of the battery compartment you can clean with the eraser at the end of a pencil do the same with the lid. Make sure the batteries are fresh/charged When you close and lock the compartment lid squeeze it shut then turn on- it may be a contact problem. If this fails then it will be a repair shop job There will be little more for you to do.

I had the same problem with my S3100. Last year I sent it back to Fuji and the power board had to be replaced. It cost around $80.00 to get fixed. I got the camera back last Xmas and I am having problems again. You can call 1-800-800-3854 and talk to their repair dept. I am going to replace mine, it is ridiculous that you spend all this money on a digital camera and then have continuous problems. I have always had Fuji cameras and liked them, but I think I am going to try another brand.

I have a 3800 same series and design. the camera failed this year 2008 after being turned on and making settings . the camera failed after abt 30 sec and has not wirked since. i found a dead watch type battery inside and replaced. still dead, i find that this battery is for the camera's os. and fuji denied it even has a battery inside. these camera's do have aa battery pack contact problem clean with contact cleaner and alcohol. if it will not show any sign of power on the internal battery has kill the os. trust me i bought another working camera to prove this . i now have 2 dead cameras. fuji must have a method to upload or reboot the camera.. if your camera is intermittent on or makes a noise there is hope.if you want to replace bt601 battery inside do so by first supporting with another battery on the board with wires so as not to remove power from the board.
FOR THE MANY WHO HAVE LOOKED FOR A SOLUTION A RECALL IS IN ORDER. GOOD LUCK!

Mine is the same. It is the Mode/Power switch. A fast "Flick" of the switch mite do it.

I have 2 of these and they failed int he same manner. Also cleaned contacts and replaced batteries. Left batteries out long enough to force a reboot. Both cameras failed the same way a month apart. Seems to be a defect in the design.

I have had exactly the same problem with my S3100 - will not turn on! I have tried freshly charged batteries, cleaning the battery contacts, using an external power supply, and attempted to reset the electronics by removing the batteries for 24 hrs., re-installing them and attempting to turn the camera on. Nothing has solved the problem. Looks like a repair shop job, but the camera is less than 18 mos. old. Makes me wonder if this is a problem with this model.

I have the same problem with my S3500, I've been trying to get it to work now for over 6 months, I even bought an adaptor that plugs into the mains to give it an electrical boost but nothing has happened.

I feel a recall by fuji is the answer to this problem, since there are so many people having the exact same problem. Any ideas on how to affect this recall? Wyogram
