Camcorder LCD screen only operates up to 30 degrees from camera
The title says it all really. As I open the LCD screen, in either film or playback mode, the picture blanks out when the screen is opened more than about 30 degrees. The viewfinder remains operational throughout. Help!

Are these lines showing up on the LCD & or on the resulting videos? I've noticed with mine that if I film in dark conditions, the HD quality is lower with lines or artifacts in the video. Otherwise, you may need a new LCD, but if it's not affecting the resulting videos, and you can see to film using the LCD, you can still use it as is.
The most likely cause for this is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.
My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

try to press the reset button. (there is a small hole inside when you open the lcd screen. press and hold the reset button inside that hole for 3 seconds and try again. you can also try removing the battery and then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and try again.
make sure you open the lens 90 degrees to the camcorder.normal operation of the cam will allow you to rotate the lcd to a maximum of 180 degrees and can eve close it with the lcd screen side facing out. you can try pressing the reset button.if it still won't work try removing the battery and unplugging it from the ac adaptor for at least a minute.if still doesn't work properly, issue could be with a bad ribbon inside the lcd that loses contact when you turn it clockwise.that of course would need replacement or repair.
Hi! It's most likely a damaged LCD cable which goes through the hinge - happens to many camcorders. You will have to contact your local Sanyo service center. I replace these cables for Sony camcorders every day.
u can fix the problem by using the cleaning tape, play it for a 10 sec. only and then your camcorder would be fine. if problem persist then go to the nearby service centre .because you would nt be able to clean its drum Assy. manually.
I have a partial solution for those whose files come up as audio. connect your camera via USB. Windows Movie Player should recognize the camera when you select capture device. When you have your camera selected hit next. Put the file in My Video and title it. When you are ready too capture video Hit play on you camera while in the review screen. The Movie Maker will then capture your video as it plays in the camera.
please someone help with this. My camcoder works very well when watching things I've filmed before but when I want to record it does not function. All I get on the LCD screen is the blue screen with Canon on it and through the lens it is black. The lens cap is of course removed. Then when I turn the red button to off position the camcoder does not turn off and the screen remains blue. I have to remove the battery to turn it off.
I've had my camera for 4 years and I filmed so many precious family moments in it.
the hinge is definetly damaged and is going to need replacing. these hinges do need replacing if used allot because this is a moving mechanical part. This is not a easy thing to do, it needs to be done by a panasonic technician.
