Check the back for a bad power supply. You should be using dual power with dual supply. It should have indicator light on somewhere. Connect to another source if no LED is on.
I always make it a learning process for myself. Meaning go by trial and error, making notes of what works and what not. As long as that backup is not in production use it to learn how to use.
Verify if the voltage switch is in the correct position (110V/220V) in the back of the unit, verify if the power cord is OK, plug it in a different AC outlet
