Question about HP L1902 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Blank Screen I have an HP L1902 LCD monitor that has a continuous green light on the power button but nothing displays on the screen. I press the menu but and still nothing displays. I moved it to a laptop and changed the screen to display on the monitor and still nothing. I have swapped out the video cable and still no change. I think that it is internal to the monitor because I should be able to bring up a menu on the screen. When the monitor is disconnected the light on the power button does not turn amber. It stays a constant green.

I shined a flashlight at the monitor and I am able to see some characters. I took it apart and found a converter board with a part number e168066 but not sure if this is what you are refering to.

Are the characters from the computer?
It could indeed be the inverter or the tube.
or even a connector loose- onto the screen board
did you check the connector situation.
However if it is a parts situation, I cannot advise you from here in the UK where you may be able to obtain any.

My hp dv4-1435dx screen is blank. It was on then it froze and then went blank. I have tried to fix it by removing the battery and replacing it a number of times. It comes on when started and plays the...

This could be due to presence of static charges on the notebook or hardware malfunction of the video card or defective LCD display screen of the notebook. To resolve the issue, perform the following steps.
Step 1: Hard Reset
To perform a hard reset, please follow the steps listed below:

1. Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook PC and remove from any port replicator or docking station.
2. Remove the battery from the notebook battery compartment.
3. Press and hold down the power button for about 20 seconds.
4. Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook PC.
5. Press the power button to turn the notebook PC back on.
This will discharge the static charges from the notebook. Now check if the display works fine or not. Incase, if the issue persists, then the video card or LCD screen must have gone bad, and to isolate the same, please connect an external monitor to the notebook and check for the display on it. You can follow the steps below to connect an external monitor to the notebook.
1. Turn off the notebook.
2. Connect the monitor cable from the external monitor to the monitor port on the rear/side of the computer.
3. Connect the monitor to a power source and turn it on.
4. Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

At this time, please follow the instructions mentioned below for switching the display to the external monitor:

The notebook's video card supports three modes. Built-in screen only; external video only; and both on simultaneously (mirrored). If you're not seeing the image on the desired device(s), the notebook's video card is probably in another mode. Press FN + F4 to cycle through the display options: Notebook display, External monitor, both.

If you press FN + F4 once, the external monitor will display & there will be no Notebook LCD display.
If you press FN + F4 twice, the external monitor will display & there will be some shading on the Notebook LCD.
If you press FN + F4 thrice, both Notebook LCD & external monitor will display.

If the issue persists on the external monitor, then this could be due to defective video card on the notebook. However, if the display on the external monitor is fine, then the issue is with the LCD display panel of the notebook. In either cases, the notebook requires a detailed onsite diagnosis by a service technician.

If your notebook is under HP warranty, then contact HP to get the notebook repaired for free of cost.

Blank HP w1907

If the power light does not turn color and stay's green on startup, it is not a power problem. It is most likely the inverter. If the unit is in warranty, send it out ASAP. Contact HP customer care by email and have the issue logged in.
If in warranty, they will send you a box by FedX second day and have repaired.
This is a 19" monitor and will not be worth paying for repairs if not in warranty.

Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

LCD monitor goes blank

It appears that the display resolution set in your display properties is out of the range that the LCD can display.

Try this.

Boot to the ENABLE VGA MODE by pressing F8 to get the Windows Boot Menu. If you can get to the desktop, then go to display properties, and see if you can change the resolution to higher settings and maintain video. (If the video blanks out, then it should revert to the previous setting in 15 seconds)
