Question about Toshiba Equium 7100S PC Desktop
It's a equium a200-151 it will play some dvd's but does'nt play other one's, is there something i can try. When i put in a dvd it comes on the screen that windows media player cannot detect a disc in the drive any idea's.........
Chances are great that the DVDs not being recognized because it's scratched. There is also the possibility that the laser lens itself is dirty. A few things you can try are to wash the DVDs with mild soap and warm water then dry it off with a soft cloth working from the center out in a straight line (not in a circular motion). Look for a laser lens cleaner at any store (I have mine from Radio Shack). It looks like a CD/DVD with little brushes on it to clean the lens as it passes over them.
If the DVD itself looks like it was used as a shield in a sandstorm, there are a few products on the market that will actually shave a small layer off the plastic coating and restore usability. I have heard great reviews from people who have used and swear by Skipdoctor for that but you're welcome to research others. I am kind of anal about my music and movies so have always taken excellent care of them and not had the need to try it.
Let me know how this works for you and rate me accordingly if it helps.
