S-video setup hi.. I have a Sanyo 27 inch... flat-screen tv.. I picked up an S-video connection for PS3, (I have the S-video connected, and the audio is sent into the AV2.) The problem is that I'm not getting any video or sound... is there a -1specific channel... Nothing is on Video-1, Video-2... or the component line (duh)... any help would be great!
Cheers,
Dan

Have you checked your connections? This is the first thing you must check. Audio video cables or coaxial cables can short out which could cause the issue. Is this a brand new tv setup or some recent issue.
If you see a no signal message, then it means that the signal output format of the PS3 does not match . It happens if you have previous used it on another tv and now connected it to a different tv. To resolve this, turn off the PS3 . Press and hold the power button on the PS3 till you hear three BEEPS. The PS3 should automatically detect the tv's resolution and the initial setup screen should appear. After that you should just follow on-screen instructions to set it up.
hi, PS3 outputs hi definition video through HDMI ie 1080p. Your tv will not support that resolution. Because its a HD ready one ie 1080i. If you wnat to connect the PS3 through the hdmi then you have to down convert the video output resolution of PS3 to 1080i. for that you have to connect the PS3 to any FULL HD tv and go to the HDMI video setup and down convert the resolution to 1080i. After that you can connect the PS3 to you tv. Surely you will get the video.
There is one more way to get the video in you tv. connect the PS3's component video output to the component video input of you tv and the audio output to the corresponding component audio input . Select component video input on the tv. You need a component video cable and a stereo RCA cable for that. ok
Connect the PS3 standard composite video connector (yellow RCA plug) to the TV composite input and switch the TV to that input. Leave the HDMI cable connected.
Make sure the PS3 is off. Turn it on and hold the power button until you get two beeps (at least 5 seconds). The PS3 navigation screen should be shown on the TV. If not, switch the TV back to HDMI; the screen should be displayed at 480i resolution.
Go to the settings menu. Select Display Settings, then Video Output Settings, then press the X button on your controller.
The on-screen instruction should be "Select the type of input on your TV." Select HDMI, then press the '> (solid right triangle) button on your controller.
You will be offered the choice of Automatic or Custom settings. Try Automatic first (if there is a problem at the end, start over and pick Custom the second time).
Press the X button. You will get a screen asking you to confirm the changes. Press the X button again to confirm.
You may get a screen asking for the resolution setting. IMPORTANT: if your TV's maximum resolution is 720p or lower, do not pick a higher resolution. The TV may not display properly or may not display at all (blue screen). Pick the highest resolution your TV can display.
Confirm this by selecting "Yes" and pressing the X button.
The settings list should now read Connector Type HDMI; Resolution Standard (NTSC); 480p; 720p; 1080p (if applicable). Press the X button to confirm.
You may be offered a choice of audio outputs; you can use HDMI or something else, depending on your setup. Confirm the setting and press X one more time.
At this point, the PS3 should send its signal to the HDMI port following restart. If your TV has more than one HDMI input, make sure you select the one connected to the PS3.
Go to the TV setup menu and autodetect all channels. This should fix it. This is assuming your Sister is not using a set-top box.
In that case, you neet to leave the set on either channel 3 or 4, or use the video/audio input jacks and leave the set on VIDEO IN. The best picture with a non-HDMI set-top box will always be with the AV OUT from the box going to AV IN on the set [the white/red (audio left/right) and yellow(video) connections].
If she is using a set-top box with an HDMI output, connect an HDMI cable to the set and select HDMI IN for the absolute best picture.
Yellow goes in the Video In ,White goes in the Audio in.If you don't have any imputs there are converters that will convert A/V inputs to RF (antenna).Good Luck
1. Connect PS3 to your TV
2. Select the Correct HDMI input on your TV
3. Press and hold the [power] button on the PS3
4. perform setup.
These are the steps to setup the video output for the PS3, It is possible that it is set to a resolution that your TV does not support.
If this doesn't work, you may want to contact Sanyo to ask if they have some protection circuit for the HDMI input. Some manufactures TV's will deactivate(turn OFF) the HDMI input under certain conditions. Unplugging the TV or some other procedure usually turns it back ON.
Hi...the HT-R800 Home Theater system has the HT-R550 receiver which could only carry Video via HDMI. you would need to connect a separate audio cale(Optical Audio Cable) to be able to get audio out of the PS3 to the receiver. Once you have hooked up an Optical Audio Cable you would need to go in the PS3 setup and putin Bitstream and Optical in the Audio Setup menu.
IF THIS IS A LCD---TURN ON, AS NORMAL AND HAVE A SIGNAL INPUT,,CABLE ,SATELLITE CONNECTED TO THE ANTENNA INPUT .MAKE SURE YOU HEAR SOUND.. HOLD A LIGHT (THE BRIGHTER THE BETTER) IN FRONT OF THE THE SCREEN ('BOUT 3 INCHES)--IF YOU SEE A DIM PICTURE---BAD SCREEN AND THATS BIG BUCKS---IF STILL NO PICTURE--CIRCUIT BOARDS AND USUALLY THATS BIG BUCKS!! GOOD LUCK
