Go into the menu of the Sansa itself and change the USB mode to MSC mode- the user manual will tell you how to do this. Then try plugging it into the computer again. If it still fails, you may have to install Microsoft's MTP Porting kit, but I would have to know your Operating System before i could tell you for sure. Here is a link to some additional information that may or may not be helpful - from people who have had the same problem:

Computer cant open sansa clip

Make sure the lock switch isn't engaged.
Double-click My Computer, and see if there is a Sansa icon (some computers will only show it as a removable drive or an MTP device).

If the computer is not recognizing the player:
disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).

Easy rip does not reconize the opal mp3 player is plugged to the usb port All of the ports on my computor work.

2 ways to fix.

1st way. Goto had add new hardware wizard.
Have computer find new hardware.
Turn your player to MTP instead of msc
To do that goto player settings and change protocal.
Have the computer look for new hardware that is MTP.
2nd way
Don't use the easy rip.
Mp3 you can drag and drop right into the folder option of the player.
IF you want music video or movie's on it you have to.
download Any Video Convertor http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/
It changes files to mpeg or any file you mpeg is the best for the next step.
Then download this. Sigmatel Motion Video http://www.soft29.com/freeware/smv_converter.htm
Its also a free. Convet the mpeg to SMV file. and drag and drop into you opal video folder.
works great but takes a little practice with the settings.

I cannot copy files from my laptop (it has Vista Home)to my Matsui mAT120 MR 2Gb MP3 player via Realplayer - is this due to incompatibility with Vista (my MP3 player is 15 months old - and used to work...

you may have to switch modes. try to find something in the settings file that says usb mode, or such. if you do, switch it from mtp to msc. if that doesnt work, install a new mtp device using add hardware wizard
