I had a similar problem. You likely have 1 or more bad capacitors on the power supply board. You can easily identify them - they have a raised or rounded appearance on the top instead of being flat. Remove the power supply board and take to electronics repair shop and have them replaced. The capacitors only cost me $4.24 for two. Now mine works fine. The repair man replaced them for free. It took him only 10 minutes to solder them on the board. Easy, cheap fix but manufacturer won't tell you that. I fixed this on 1-02-09. My 2 bad capacitors were "3300uf 10v" and I replaced with "3300uf 16v" but you might be able to replace with "4700uf 35 v" also.

SOURCE: Panasonic remote and volume/channel buttons do not work
My son put a penny in the SD card slot of my Pansonic flat screen tv. I finally got the penny out but now the volume and tv controls do not work. I can change the channels through my cable box but that is it. The volume does not work on my cable remote or the flatscreen. What do you suggest I do to fix this problem?? Thanks, Josh

I had this problem in 2007 / 2008 here is what happened to me.
Jan 09, 2008 - I also have brought the unit to the authorized Panasonic repair facility and the problem is a failure in the P-board which is the power supply board. The P-board needs to be replaced. The repair will cost $475 plus tax. $250 is for labor. The unit was nop more than two months out of warranty. This does not speak well for Panasonic. I have been researching the problem and it looks like this has happened to many of the Panasonic plasma TVs.
Jun 14, 2008 - As an update to my problem with the failed P board. Contacted Panasonic Service and talked to a customer service representative. I told them how I have purchased many Panasonic products and how unhappy I was with the failure of the product. They proposed paying the labor cost of $250 and I would pay for the part. I just hope it does not happen again.
