Hitachi projector model CP X260 projects yellow spot on screen

Projector started projecting a yellow image like someone took a yellow high-liter and drew a big spot on the projection screen. I thought this was a light bulb issue but after installing a new bulb the yellow image is still reflected. Does anyone know the cause/fix for this?

Thanks!

This is probably the polarizing filter. It will need to be replaced. It should not cost very much to fix.

  • Bohanna Dec 31, 2010

The Purple dots indicate the filters are clogged and let dust get into the optics. You will have to Blow out the prisim block with compressed air and carefully wipe the dust particles off the LCD panels. WHATEVER you do DO not remove the three LCD panels from the block they are a royal pain to line up They can be cleaned with out removing them. If you have a yellow spot on the screen it usually means the blue LCD screen needs to be replaced. this is a more difficult job. The MOST important thing about LCD projectors is to keep the filters cleaned or they overheat spit dust and cook the panels!!

    good luck Bohanna

Blue blotches on screen due to dust get optics cleaned should then work ok...yellow spot more likely to be lcd or lens burn a much more serious and expensive problem

  • dvdcrvnts31 Oct 27, 2010

The blue blotches you describe are happening on mine too, they look like someone has got a paintbrush and flicked the tip at my screen and got little blue dots all over, but they're in a square formation, only in the middle of my screen, the edges are fine,is this the optics do you think and how easy is it to clean them?,thank you for your help if you answer my question, even if you dont,.. thanks for reading anyway..Dave

I work for a company where we take care of around 7,000 projectors. We have recently come across this same issue in this model and several other Hitachi models. We have figured out that it seems to be a main board issue, after testing and checking of the lenses and other things. The main board ended up being the fix. Hope this helps!

I am not getting any signal between my laptop and the projector. i am connecting with a vga cable

Hi i'm Allan!
There is some keys that you may have to press on the Laptop for it to connect to your projection, usally its FN key plus "F#" key that has the monitor logo. Different on every laptop though. What's the make and model of your laptop?
Keep me posted. Thanks!

The projected picture is cut off on the right side

It's hard to tell you exactly what you need to do with so little information. If you are connected to a computer, it's possible your computer resolution is too high. I recommend nothing higher than 1024x768. These projectors simply can't support very high resolutions.

Another option is to go into your menu and look for the image settings. The one you need to adjust is called horizontal position.

CP-X260 LCD Projector: when i connected to my laptop the projector does n...

By nothing do you mean it does not power on? Is your laptop on? Does it have an image on the screen?

Most of the time, this is easily fixed by holding down your function key and pressing one of the F keys. Different laptops use a different key, but you are looking for the CRT/LCD key.

So, press and hold function + CRT/LCD and you should notice a change. Be patient as it sometimes takes a moment. There are 3 settings here. One will give you a display on your laptop but not the projector. One will give you a display on the projector but not the laptop, and one will give you a display on both. So if the first time you press function + CRT/LCD you get a change but it's not what you need, try it again and cycle through until you find what you want.

MacBook connected Hitachi CP x301 Icons do not appear

Ok what's happening is that you have it set up as an extension of your desktop, you need to mirror the displays. when your projector is plugged in and it is showing only the desktop background, open "System Preferences," click "Displays," click "Positioning" and check the box that says "Mirror Displays." This should do the trick.

Iamge from the previous projection from RGB still appears when i switch to Video mode. why is it?

Hi There

Looks like your Projector's Mainboard has locked the memory and is stuck.

If you can access the Projector's Menu - Reset the machine and switch it off.

If the problem still occurs , you will have to take your Projector to a Service Centre to have to Mainboard repaired.

This is 100% NOT a lamp issue.
