I'm sorry, I don't know if or where you can get the instructions. The vast majority of carseats expire after 6 years, though. I think 10 years is the max. and there are few of those on the market. If at all possible, I would recycle the seat you have and pick up a new booster seat.

How to change the Safety 1st "Alpha Omega Elite" to a booster

To change it into a belt positioning booster seat, you remove the harness straps completely and use the positioning clips on the side of the carseat (up by the head) to position the automobile's seat belt to the appropriate position.

Could not install car seat

go to your local fire department and they will install for free. It's better to do this and I know, I'm the father of an 11 month old.
