I have a chasis model ctc171 and my ihvt went out, can I have the whole board swapped out, or do I have to get someone to change the parts themselves, I live in Rialto, California. or can I do it myself.

Re: proscan 60 inch
You can get ahold of PTS Corp to get the board rebuilt, how do you know the transformer is bad? Sometimes the HV distribution block shorts out. Can you hear the HV "Squeak" 3 times when you press power, if so probably bad transformer. The whole board wont be available new, might be able to pick up a rebuilt one, will have to be careful with the HV leads.

You can try to change it out and go to convergence adjustment mode on service mode to setup the template.
But I rather replace couple trans and leaky diode on your old convergence amp board to save my time
I have been working on solving this problem for a few weeks now myself. I have even purchased 3 broken sets and one good one so that I can do board swaps and test repairs. I have a good idea of what may be causing the problem but the details are too long to put in this thread. Goto the site www.tvrepairkits.com and use the contact us button to send me an email. Include your chasis number or model number. After I receive your message I will send you an email with some things to check. Hope this helps
This part is called the flyback transformer and is part # 239111 at a cost of $68.99 from tritronicsinc.com. You can replace the transformer. It sounds like it developed a short internally. There may be other parts that were effected as well. If you are not comfortable working inside hte set, expect a service call to run about $100 for parts plus hte local labor rate.
Usually this problem is caused by part failure on circuit board. Most often in power supply or deflection circuit. You will need test equip. and soldering/desoldering tools to fix this set. Most repair services charge 275.00-475.00 to do this repair on a PS60690. Crate is removable by removing rear cover, disconnecting spk. plugs and keyboard plug. Loosen two screws and whole thing slides out. This can save you service call fee.
