Image on tv casts a red shadow.

I have a sony KP-57WS500 tv and the image on the tv casts a red shadow. the red shadow are visible only on the four corners of the screen and the shadow is bent. is there any way i can fix this problem? is it the the light bulb i need to replace or what is it? please help. thanks.

Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com
and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.

TRY THE MAGIC FOCUS BUTTON. IF THIS DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM YOU WILL NEED A SERVICER TO GO IN AND REPAIR CONNECTIONS OR REPLACE THE CONVERGENCE IC'S AND OR RESISTORS. AND READJUST CONVERGENCE IN THE SERVICE MODE.

Your TV has whats known as a convergence failure which is common. You will need to find and replace the convergence parts to fix it. You can get the parts and step by step instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

The image has a shadow in the screen and little distorsion by the corners

Try pressing the Flash Focus button on the TV to adjust the convergence of the TV and check if it helps.

No,U have solderwicks?U can buy it,in any Radio Shack store.Use solder iron on top of the solderwicks to soap up the solders out ICS pins.Replaced the ICS use any kind solders just resoders ICS back to the heatsink.Tries Websites Tv repair World.com,Tv repairkits.com to buy a complete convergence kit.

Have Sony KP-57ws500 rear projection i had the bulbs replaced 3 years ago now itseams as if everyting is out of focus.images outlined in green and red.

Hi,
It sounds TV got convergence out ICs failure problem and causing 3D image or outlined picture.
There are 2 convergence out ICs mounted on D board in TV that need to be replaced.
Let me know if you need part number of ICs if you want to replace by yourself or call local Tv tech to fix it.

The colors are not coming together. I can see red

You have bad convergence amplifier ICs. May also have associated low value resistors and or pico fuses open.

Tv turns on but has a shadow around evrything

Do you have any speakers or magnets next to the tv? If so, that is not good.
It may be a convergance issue. Check to see if you have any adjustments on the back of your tv to adjust picture. If not, if may be a faulty capacitor that needs to be replaced
