What a tank! Great machine. I have never tried to connect to a computer. What op system are you using? Windows Vista and maybe XP may not support this model. Look for undates. What cable are you using? I just checked with Canon and found this unit is supported by Win 95/98. A firmware update from Canon may solve it.

Hello - We have a Canon Model 3175MS Fax Machine - we want to print a comfirmation that a Fax has been sent. Is this possible? Thanks! Marcy

Yes, it is called a `transmission report' (TX report), and is a setup option.
You can change this setting with the following procedure:
Open the 1-touch panel to access the function keys.
Press the `data registration' key to access the user menu.
You should see `user settings'. Press the `set' key. Press the cursor down key to get to `report settings', and press the `set' key. You should see `TX report'. Press the `set' key. Cursor down till you see `output yes'. Press the set key.
Press the `stop' key to return to the normal screen.
It is now set to print a report after each transmission.

Why our fax sending and receiving solid black

Its a problem with scaner unit. Reports are being printed out, and do not pass trough scaner, because of thath report is Ok.

If the fax is still under warranty, go to warranty provider service.

Next time dont buy "kids toy" for fax machine. Try laser Canon Fax L140.

"waiting for report" /won't copy

I experienced this problem when "Fax Setting -> TX Setting -> Print Report" is configured before you send out the fax.
After your Fax was sent, and the message "Waiting for report" appear forever and does not leave.
It is because your INK Level is Low and your have set "Fax Setting -> RX Setting -> Auto Print ON -> Print when no ink OFF", and so the report will not be printed out due to ink level is low.

Solution:
Configure "Fax Setting -> RX Setting -> Auto Print ON -> Print when no ink to ON", and the report will be printed out immediately, the message disappear.

Printing on Imagerunner 210s

depends on which additional function you are trying to do.
You have it as a copier only right now, you can add
duplexer for two sided copies
network for your computer to fax and print and scan
document feeder to put copies on top and feed automatically

There are a lot of options you need to decide which function you are willing to pay for.

Good luck
