TV Won't Power Down; Change Channels; Change Volume; etc
Hello,
I cannot change channels, modify the volume, or power off my Panasonic 32" TV (either from the remote control - which has new batteries - or from the front panel controls). The only way I can power off the set is to unplug it. The TV picture tube seems just fine - I just can't seem to get it out of some sort of locked mode (pressing the front panel buttons simply shows the various menu control option, non of which I can select).
I have tried all of the steps in the troubleshooting chart in the user's manual (presing ACTION and TV/VIDEO buttons simultaneously & then pressing ACTION and left VOL buttons, etc, with no luck.
I have had this exact problem before - I simply unplugged the set and it was corrected. This obviously no longer solves the problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Incorrect code. Try different programming codes for one that operates your TV correctly. Note not all universal remotes will work all features of a tv. Sometimes all you can get (especially on lower end remotes) is power and volume
It's a common problem with this model. You must change the IR board. This is very easy to do. Remove the back panel of the tv and unscrew/unplug the original board located where the power button, volume/channel, etc is and plug the new one. I bought my IR at Ebay, but sadly have to say that it was not working. Watch out these bargains, :-(
Also had the same problem with our Panasonic 50" Plasma...could not change the channel or the volume (with the remote control nor with the actual TV controls). Before I called for repair, I UNPLUGGED the TV and then plugged it back after a minute. I was surprised....the TV started working again. (Switching the TV on and off is not sufficient). I could change channels and volume, etc. So this saved me a repair this time. Might be worth trying this solution. Wouldn't hurt one bit, but rather save you a repair fee.
I have had this problem on this same model (F32650) and I discovered that what is happening is that dust and debris are causing the microswitches in the panel to short, therefore the channel starts changing and wont stop or the volume changes etc...
Get some electronic switch cleaner and (with the power off of course!) spray into the crevaces around each button and press each button a few times and then power the unit back on and it should be fine.
Controlling the TV power and volume is probably all you'll be able to do with that control. The Comcast remotes are meant to be used with their converter boxes, and normally people want to change channels on the box while the TV stays on the box output channel (usually 3, sometimes 4). The remote's channel up and down buttons and number keypad only send out the codes recognized by the converter box. You'll need to fall back to the TV remote if you want to control more than power and volume.
Well there is still a problem with the TV. I found that by unplugging the power cable that the digital channels worked. But, when I turned the TV on today the problem had returned, I had to take out the power cable again!
