My computer shuts down at random intervals, most of the time it happens when a larger program or someting with a large grafix demand is running, but their are times when it will shut off when nothing is being run except windows and its' componants. I got the computer from a friend who built it himself and it did not do this at first. I checked to make sure that everything hooked up properly and did not find any problems. It has an GA-8IPE1000-G rev 4.0 motherboard, 1x 512mb, and 1x 256mb DDR ram both installed on channel A,(could that be an isue?) Any one have an idea why it might be doing this now?

Hi, Random shut down is usually the hard drive. You need to get it tested at a repair shop and ask if it could be repaired or if you will need a new hard drive. If it's not too big of a problem yet, they might be able to do a lowlevel format which will eliminate bad sectors and do a new install. However, if there's too many bad sectors, it might need to be replaced. Good Luck and let me know what happens.

If the Computer restarts randomly, then the issue might be due to any damaged Operating System Files.
But, if the Computer shuts down randomly, it is due to the Processor.
All the Processors will be designed in such a way that, if there is any overheating issues, the Computer will shut down randomly.
The overheating might occur due to the malfunction of the Cooling Fan in the Computer.
As this is a overheating issue, it would be better to get the Unit examined at the Service Center.
Replacing the Cooling Fan in the Computer should resolve the issue.

My computer keeps shutting down randomly. Also when i try to use F10 it will not respond if i try and run error checking the system will crash/shut down or give me a black screen. Basicly it randomly...

Possibilities:
1. overheating, and automatic shutdown.
Check that the fans are working.

2. bad RAM, causing "random" crashing.
On a "good" computer, download the free 'MEMTEST86+' software, and run it, to test your RAM.

3. Leaking capacitors on motherboard, causing "voltage-spikes", leading to "random" errors.

4. Bad disk-drive. Remove the disk-drive.
Connect it as a "slave" drive in another computer,
and run 'CHKDSK' ("Check Disk") to look for problems.

Switched off at random twice yesterday and is running way slower

NP--Whenever I find that type of problem, I first suspect malware, then power or heat, and then maybe programs that just shouldn't be running.

Try running MSCONFIG. Shut down programs or utilities that you don't recognize.
