When you turn on the unit and insert a DVD and close the cover the unit won't spin. The screen indicates that the door is still open. So I understand why it won't start to spin the DVD. Can you tell me where the door switch is? Is it part of the door latch or is it twords the back of the cover? I think once I can clear the open door message it will work.

Hi,
MAY BE THERES A PROBLEM WITH YOUR POWER SUPLLY TRY TO GET A NEW POWER
SUPPLY, IF THERES NOTHING HAPPEN MAY BE YOUR BOARD HAS THE DEFECT.
One of the minitek technician suggested this method you can try it out:
With the power turned off, open the
lid and then open the hatch where you put the DVD into. Locate the
laser lens and notice that the laser lens is attached to an assembly
that moves diagonally outward in a slot. First, slide this assembly
outward. Second, slide it back inward. Now repeat, slide out then back
in. Next, put in a music CD and let it play all the way through. (This
re-calibrates the laser head assembly movement.) When the music CD is
done playing, put in a DVD, and amazingly, you'll have a working unit
again.
Now coming to the disc reading problem you can call the toll free no.of minitek (866-709-9500)
they will help you fix this if the above method doesnot work..
Goodluck..

Two things happen. One the latch is already latched and therefore it's closed before the gate shut, When you try to close it you might notice that the door don't close all the way. This doe'snt have to be thwe case. the other thing that happens if the lock mechanism is working, You here it click? The latch is stuck as the opener is stuck. You might get lucky and spray the latch with Blaster or other rust buster type penatrant. Theres angles though the opening of the latch . Spray on several angles and repleatly close the door trying to vibrate the Penatrant into the stuck area. Looking at the latch use a screw driver to move the latch and see if you can cycle it though it's positions to see if you can latch and unlatch it with the tool and reopen by pullung the handle ( you may need to try ther inside handle too and even the remote openner if you have one. Ussaaaly you need to push the button twice to open the rear hatch so it may take a few trys and spraying to get it to come loose.. Some vehicals stay closed a long time and stuck is the way to think.. But if the door is used often the linkage inside the door mayh have come off the the latch is closed and the linkage doesn't open the laTCH AND THE THING MANAGED TO GET CLOSED WITHT THE DOOR OPEN.

I have a similar problem. The unit has never worked. The DVDs I put in won't spin, as the player indicates an open message at all times. The striker-pin that enters the hole to indicate that the lid is closed is fine, and I have tried simulating the action with a blunt toothpick, but the message still reads "open." Any help?
When I turn on the DVD Player, the screen indicates that the tray is OPEN which it is not. The DVD doesn't even at least spin anymore which, at least, it used to! I too would like to know if it is possible to clear this problem inside the player maybe. Tried calling Mintek Digital Inc in Anaheim CA and both 800 and local # are no longer in service. Gee I wonder why!
