Brush won't turn on my Panasonic MC-CB467

hair carpet strand has to be removed from around brush head mounting location or motor,switch faulty

Make sure vacuum is unplugged. Lay. Vacuum upside down and remove Bottom plate. Pull brushroll from nozzle housing, pull metal end caps from brush and remove any hair and debris. Put new belt around motor shaft then around brushroll. Put one hand on each side of belt and pull brushroll to stretch belt far enough to drop brushroll into position. Make sure brush spins freely. Install bottom plate. Make sure brushroll turns freely, if not, make sure bottom plate is not restricting the belt before you turn the vacuum on. Repeat the process in 6 months. You may be surprised to see how much a belt stretches and loses elasticity after it's been on your vacuum for 6 months.

Check to see if there is anything holding the brushes in place, i.e., thread, hair, gunk, etc. Or, they could have gone round on the ends and you need a new brush assembly. Not expensive and easy to replace. Just look at it when you remove it. You may have to jiggle the new one in place as they are sometimes square and just irritable when you are trying to put them in. FYI - swearing does not help! Oh, I forgot to add, check to see if the belt is broken. They are not hard to put in either. Buy a couple, it's good to have a spare:)

Unplug, check if brush has cord wrapped. Check for fuse, if applicable.
Check power lead in another supply socket. Check for reset button, if applicable. Contact Panasonic technical support for suggestions before heading to service centre.

Check to see if the brush is turning when you have the vac on and the handel down 'of course keep your hands from that area when doing this ,you might have to lean the vac ,to see the resaults.

Even though the brush is spinning, you probably need to replace the belt because it is stretched. It is probably slipping on the beater bar. This is causing the smell (burning rubber). I don't believe it is your motor. :-)

You will have to access the motor by removing the entire bottom brush housing and tilting the vac motor shaft out of the housing. Once released you will have a main body and brush housing.
There are visible motor housing screws in the lower portion of the main housing and if I recall there may be twoscrews inside the bag chamber as well

The part numbers for the washers and caps can only be found if you know the agitator brush number. 

You should be able to order thru a repair shop, you will need your model number. Are you talking about the brush roll or an attachment brush?
