Look up your user manual, it sounds like your zoom feature has been activated to the max. I have a Zenith backlit LCD TV and it has a zoom feature you control from your remote. You could open up your on screen menu and find the place to reset the TV to factory settings that should clear up the problem.
Yes, its a convergence problem and you may be able to fix this yourself if you have a soldering station and a few basic tools. Its possible that all that is necessary is to re-solder the pin connections on the convergence output ICs on the underside of the cicuit board. There may also be a poor solder connection on a jumper wire connection near the ICs. Its near the plastic frame. If this does not resolve the issue, you will need to replace the ICs. Remember to unplug the TV before doing any service.
Good Day, tree64;
More than likely the convergence problem the TV has wont be resolved by adjustments. In your situation, moving TV, the problem most likely is poor solder connections on the convergence IC's. They are large devices attached to very large heat-sinks, and have numbers on the IC'c like STK 392-560.
If no poor connections....replce.
Good Luck, big IRISH.
If the board was "repaired" the settings should not have changed. There is a particular order to performing a convergence alignment. Do a web search for the service manual that will document the specific steps you need to take. Search using the model number and the keyword "manual". It should be availabel for $10-$15.
I have a wild guess. I have the same tv and channel 72 is the proper channel to watch tv on. I don't know why, but maybe try channel 72 instead of the usual channel 3. Good luck, maybe a quick fix, maybe not!
