How do I run the chain saw once it's on? Should I be pushing or pulling the choke slide? Also should I be locking the "trigger" ON while starting it warm the way I do when starting it from cold?
Starting procedure for Stihl.
(cold starting)
Place saw on floor (flat clear surface).
Make sure chain break is on.
Hold throttle in, while pushing on switch all the way down.
Place right foot in the flat of the rear handle.
Place left hand on top handle.
Pull starter handle until saw fires, it should then cut out.
Click the starter switch up 1 click to half choke.
Pull starter handle again untilsawfires up. note: it will be reving because the trigger is loched on, (blip the throttle once) and it should go to tick over.
There should be np need to keep playing with the choke when the saw is warm. No need to lock the trigger when starting warm.
Warm starting is performed by holding the rear handle between the thighs rather than on the floor.

I've been messin with my poulan 2150 that was doing the same thing. Good, fresh gas, good spark, etc. I noticed whenever I loosened the fuel cap it would literally spray gas out! alas, I removed the muiffler assy and the darn thing fired up the first pull! I've got the muffler parts soaking in gas right now and I'm sure this the problem. It just makes sense especially if you use the same 'mixed fuel' can for weed eater, blower, etc. Check your's out, it could very well be your problem too! GOOD LUCK

Thanx Plink. I'll try that warm start method. The cold start was the way I did start it but it kept turning off most likely cuz i was pushing and plulling the choke.
Dont have the choke lever pulled out too long when starting the saw or you will end up flooding the saw
