i have acer travelmate 290 laptop, recently I formated my laptop and I installed windows xp home edition on it, every thing works fine after I installed the operating system with my acer recovery disk, but when i switch on my wireless button it gives blue screen and immediatly restart the laptop. i tried uninstalled and installed the wireless drivers no luck.
Most Acers use an IPN2220 Wireless card. If yours does, you use XP and your router is using WPA or WPA2 (TKIP or AES) security then you'll need to update the driver by searching for it manually using the Custom button (Hardware) in Windows Update (instead of Express). This driver is not part of XP service pack 2 or 3. In my experience if you don't update to the newest common form of home wireless security (WPA2 AES) then the older formats seem to become unreliable in the way you describe
Goto http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/ and select your model notebook. Look under the Applications tab and the software is in there. Download and install and you should be all set.
You may have to remove the keyboard to check the connection.
Look at the bottom of the laptop for screws to remove any bezels that do not come up but simply lightly prying on them. Notably, above the keyboard there is usually a bezel containing your Power and various LEDs. Try removing just that bezel as you may be able to re-seat the keyboard connection by only removing that bezel and any now accessible screws.
sent it back ..tell them all the issue that you got after you received it....but the files in your hard drive..i dunno if they will help you..its SOP to tell to the customer to back up your hard drive b4 you sent the computer...you also have choice to keep your hard drive before you send your computer for repair...software or files are not cover for warranty
