F20 mp3 player accidentally got wet. It will load up but the touch pad is unresponsive. Is there any hope of recovering function, or is it a total loss?

I would reset the ipod touch by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds until the apple logo appears. Hope this helps.
Well that grey ring was water and im not completly familiar with touches but like most electronics that get wet you have to let them dry and this is usually a long process so u can let it dry and not have it for a couple monthes or if its still under warranty get a new one

Did you accidentally get the unit wet? I've been touching the power and volume buttons with wet fingers, and my unit just died. Also found a bit of a sticky residue on the pin inside the power connector on the back. I believe the button design allows for water to leak in, resulting in a short circuit.
First I have to figure out how to open it up.
