Sony KP-43HT20 RED TINT

I have the above mentioned TV and the screen has a red tint in the middle of the screen and has a bar that is about 4 inches thick of clearer and brighter at the top and bottom. Almost like letter box with a clearer brighter picture in the top and bottom border. I have read that this may be fixed in the service menu but how do you get there. Any suggestions would b appreciated.

My screen is all red.

verify your tint settings in the users manual is not all the way to the left or toward the red setting.

Then try turning down the RED CRT screen voltage.

Steps:
1) Access is from the front. Remove the two screws behind two plastic caps on the front plastic bezel. They will be down just under the fabric on each side

2) gently pull the bottom out and down. loosen the wires from the tie wraps and slide it to the side

3) there is a another access panel, probably 4 screws you need to remove. Remove it, and you will see your three CRT's. Keep your hands away from them.

4) look for the little black box with six pots on it. locate the one that has an "R" next to it in the row for "Screen" which is screen voltage. The other row is for focus. Don't touch it.

5) With tv turned on, and on a black screen or blank input, very slowly turn the "R" knob down, until the red tint disappears.

assembly is reverse of above.

My screen has a red tint to it. It used to wear off after the tv was on for awhile but now its red constantly.

It seems the HT Transformer (High Voltage) transformer is unable to supply the desired voltage to the picture tube. It was probably ebbing giving rise to the the red tinge earlier when starting up but easing up as the tube got heated up, however now the voltage has really dropped. Since the tube works by displaying a combination of RGB(red, green & blue) to make up the complete spectrum of displayed colors either the HT transformer &/OR the tube needs to be changed.

KP-57WS500 turning green or red and then off

Green and Red guns seems defective and requires replacement.
Both guns (CRTs) are no longer available so TV has no worth to repair.
