Question about Televison & Video
Are you perhaps using component cables to hook the dvd to the tv? Sometimes if you have the blue switched with the green, it will make the picture b&w

Follow the steps. God bless you
Insert a DVD lens-cleaning disc into your player and press "Play" to clean the DVD laser, eliminating picture problems due to read errors. Do not use a CD cleaning disc as the brushes on these discs can damage your laser.

there is a circuit in the color section to put the tv to black and white if the color subcarrier is missing from the broadcast signal.
it is called a color killer and needs to be adjusted.
it is for a technician to do.
it operates off the 3.58mhz color subcarrier.

Same problem with an older JVC player. One end of the S-video cable was loose. Pushed in in tight and everything ok again. Cheap fix if it works for you.
