Our Kenmore dishwasher started continually flashing the Sani-Rinse light (for several minutes until it finally went off along with all other lights). It's 11-years old so we figured we're in for another in the long list of replacements but so far our internet-friendly fixes have saved us quite a bit of change so thought we'd try again.... Cancel button starts what sounds like a pump on a display of 2 and then stops when it reaches 0. All other buttons do nothing. .. a couple of quick fix ideas from other reading ... 1) Shut off breaker, waited 10 seconds, powered back on .. no change. 2) Ran the water at the sink until hot in case it's a thermo switch .. no change. Removed kick-plate and found service tech sheet. Tried entering diagnostics by sequence of Hi Temp Scrub, Air Dry (Repeat again) .. nothing. Second try used sequence of Sani Rinse, Air Dry (Repeat again) .. nothing. Opened it, closed it, hit Cancel .. nothing. Hmmm ... Closed it, hit Cancel .. pump came on with display of 2, then ended ... Sani Light came on, continually flashing, so now I'm back where I started. Tried diagnostics again .. nothing. Opened it, closed it ... service notes say could be stuck key that the light is flashing on so decided to try a new setting; changed it from quick wash to normal wash and to air dry, Start. It's washing! Who knows for how long but it's counted down from 95 to 55. What is wrong with this dishwasher?
Kenmore is **** with a double PP go buy a Maytag or GE and throw it threw the appliance dept like the Discount tire guy did on TV. I have asked the same question on 4 different blog's and no answer. The question to where they were actually built is unavailable. They only warranty products for 1 year and their disclaimer's add up to when you walk out the door. They are just JUNK! sorry I do not know the answer, first you will pay the repair man then end up buying a new one anyway. Same as me..Peace!

I had the same flashing light problem first the normal wash flashing light then the others. I tried shuting of the breakers but nothing. I tried resetting the panel by pushing normal wash and heated dry simultaneously and nothing. So I took the six screws holding the front panel out and unplugged the ribbon type wires and plug and unplugged it several times to help make a better contact and I was able to get it to work right away. This may not work for all but I worked for me. It is very easy to do and it's worth a try if you're having the same problem. It took me less then 10 minutes.

The suggested post from Will Rodriguez and a youtube video that shows exactly how to replace a controller board on a maytag (starting number 665 on a Kenmore) were both very helpful. In this case, we started by doing what Will suggests; open the control panel and unplug the ribbon and plug it back in. Several successful washes now and no problem, no flashing lights. Seriously easy and quick, just remember to cut the power first. Thank you! Another home repair that saved mucho bucks! Well, here I am again and with the same problem but at least the reset via ribbon unplugging got me by for another 6 weeks or so and through Christmas! My service tech sheet shows that a diagnostic mode can be done either by alternately pushing Hi Temp Scrub then Air Dry (repeat) OR Sani Rinse then Air Dry (repeat) - until all lights light up then it should start within minutes going thru various cycles. No luck; can't get it into diagnostics mode regardless of what I try. I'm thinking either the tact switch is out for the light that's blinking (Sani Rinse) or a new controller board is needed. Suppose I might just do both while I'm at it. Any other ideas?
