it happens on all sources but not on the menue screen

  • Anonymous Nov 03, 2007

I have seen the same on my Philips 32PFL5332D 32" LCD. It appeared on the regular TV and HDMI input from DVD and the set up menus. I shut it off and unplugged it for a few seconds. It went away after I plugged it back in and turned it back on. I am not sure if it has to do with a build up of static charge. I have heard LCD TVs are prone to being affected by static charge.

    Can anybody confirm this?

I have a Samsung 32 inch model LNS3241D, 18 months old and all of the sudden multicolor horizontal lines started appearing. More and more untill 80% of the screen was covered. I could still see the channel picture through these lines, but, the lines were there. When I turned it off, let it cool down, the lines were no longer there. Within 1-2 minutes, they slowly returned. Can anyone help, much appreciated.

I've had exactly this problem with this Samsung TV. I called Samsung who were worse than useless. I tried taking it to a repair shop and was quoted £300 -£350 to fix it. With brand new versions costing around £450 it's not worth it. All I can recommend is never buying a Samsung again and telling everyone you know to avoid them.

I have a similar problem. It affects all sources, a bouncing vertical red dot appears when the set has been on for a while. The red dot appears about 8" in from the left. My set is still under warranty however and I will contact the store re this issue. Otherwise brilliant TV.

  • grinch2000 Jun 10, 2008

40 inch same problem, red line on left of screen, red dots on screen, 6 months old should be under warranty but going to be a pain to find receipts etc.

  • Anonymous Jul 15, 2008

I have a simmilar problem, but my dots are blue all over the picture, tv engineers have no idea what is causing this, as no imformation is available

  • Anonymous Jul 17, 2008

Took television to repair engineer, he advises me that the set is not repairable, and samsung are aware of the problem, which is a board fault and they have discontinued the set, and there is no parts available for the set, told me to bin it or sell it to someone who might require a screen.

Hi, I have an LN-R408D with little random red lines. They are very thin and come up on darker spots of the screen. Best Buy just came and looked at it and said he'd order the parts...but you say they are no longer avialable to fix these older TV's? What is the part number that causes this or at least what's it called?

I have a similar problem. samsung 40" LCD LNS4095D, white, red and green flickering dots, mostly white. Happened 14 months after i purchased, samsung, would not help because it was 2 months out of warranty. Cannot find info anywhere about the problem, it happens with al inputs. If i view the menu without any inputs, the menu shows up crystal clear. Its not a pixel problem but some kind of signal or processing problem. Don't buy samsung. Crappy company, won't address the problem.

My Samsung 42 - now has almost a half screen of horizontal lines...

they have grown exponentially over the past 2 months.

I think this is really terrible - and something we should post on the SAMSUNG site!

I have a 15 month old 47" LG LCD HD. It developed red line on left side and anything that would ordinarily be black is now red. LG customer service told me they have never heard of this problem and I am on my own since it is now out of warranty. This is the 2nd LG I have owned that has not last more than 2 years without having a problem.

I also face the same issue, then i called a tv repairing mechanic. I has spend too much amount on repairing this issue. And mechanic told to me that you must have to use a Virtual Private Network if you play any online video on TV.

I unplugged the TV and now the picture is back.I read that the LCD's are vunerable to static build up so unless my daughter is using her TV I unplug it.

I was thinking about getting a large LCD for the family room but I'm not going to until they improve on this technology.

Good luck to everyone!.

It is probably due to the signal being corupted before it reaches the screen, due to inteference in the cable. Try to swap cable, or get all power cords as far away from it as possible.

I had a mass/earth cut and it does that on my screen. What I do is I plug it where the electricity is ok

Posted on Mar 03, 2008

If you run your cable through a video switcher it will distort the signal.

This should be repairable. It may be the LVDS Cable or the Main board problem. The only other problem is the T-Con Board.

Lines down screen

We have a Samsung LE32A457, whilst we were watching T.V tonight the top halve of the screen suddenly appeared with green lines halfway down the screen and that half of the picture was unwatchable, T.V is 2 years old. We have removed all scart leads but this did not help and the problem still exists, when shutting down a white horizontal line across the centre of the screen appears from this line upwards the picture is faulty. Any help or advice would be grateful.

Horizontal Lines on a LN-S3241D

i'm sorry to say It's most likely broken. I think the LCD screen is going. Try calling up Samsung to see if they can fix it or repair it for cheap. Good Luck.

Usually not but in some cases gently massageing the dot(tv turned on or off try both) with your finger may work (dont push too hard)

or put on a channel with static and try

your chances are slim though this is usually a defect in the lcd technology and most manufactures only warranty it for 5-7 stuck pixels

This should be repairable. It may be the LVDS Cable or the Main board problem. The only other problem is the T-Con Board.
