Hi! I recently acquired a Sony Cybershot DSC-F717 from my mother, who tends to just throw things away once they stop working, rather than try to fix them.
As near as I can tell, the ONLY problem with this camera is that the shutter is stuck closed. When I turn the camera on, i can feel the mechanics whirring to open it, but nothing happens. Clicking the shutter button, the flash goes off and the camera makes its ''c-click!'' sound, and the LCD shows that a picture has been taken--but the screen is black because the shutter was never opened.
Does anyone know how to fix this, or where i can get it fixed for under $100?
This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Sony should fix this for you for free, but it will cost you $15 shipping. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following link for more info:
