Since shifting Akai 29" colour TV into a cupboard it suddenly switches itself off and red sensor light flickers can't switch on again for an hour or so. Last week used the remote to switch on and off and behaved all week until today when it decided to switch off again. Managed to get it back on 3 hours later and is still going some 5 hours later. Very strange any suggestions have put new batteries in remote but problem seems to be in main switch (I think). Can't understand how it can suddenly switch itself off. Another TV in Lounge is OK and doesn't switch off so can't be aerial problem. Would be grateful for any advice.

Have tried checking if the Power Plug is fitting tightly in the Power socket? Could be that it is loose?

Tried that unplugged & replugged and it went for another week no problems switched itself off last night and can't get it to switch back on again. Grrrr Will keep trying.
Took it out of cupboard checked all plugs everything ok going well put back in cupboard, went for several hours then switched off again.
Got it going after couple of hours and still going. Maybe it doesn't like the cupboard !!
Keeping fingers crossed it will stay on. Puss
23/7/2007 Still going keeping fingers crossed.
It is fixed husband by-passed standby switch and put new switch. Now just switch on or off and don't worry about standby, works perfectly.
