Question about Sony MHC-RV888D Shelf System
Hi, I am using Sony MHC-RV888D. I need to record the TAPE to my laptop as mp3. I have all the right softwares in laptop to capture sound coming in. I am connecting VIDEO/SAT OUT L/R jacks (red and white colour) to my laptop's microphone jack. when I play the TAPE, the tape plays as I hear it in the speakers and some mp3 file seems to be generated but when I play that file on laptop then no sound. Am I making some wrong connections? This problem seems to have eaten my brain....Someone please help me in completing this function. What are the other options to convert TAPE into MP3 using this music system? Thanks
You have to connect the S-VIDEO output of the device to your laptop via s-video - usb cable , if they do not have a cable like that than you might as well use an adapter from s-video to usb, if u have your hands on one.
the second method is to hook up a audio recorder from the speaker output, and use a volume controller witch steps down the speaker output so you can plug the cable directly to your laptop microfone output..

on laptop, ensure the following: 1. go to Volume control (look for icon on system tray). 2. under Options tab select Properties. 3. under Adjust volume for recording option, ensure that microphone is is check-boxed if no luck, borrow a second amp and connect your L/R jacks (red and white colour) to the borrowed amps line in jacks and test whether you hear anything to confirm your line out capability.
