normally, if you can turn the camera on everything should work including the lcd. if its just an issue with the imaging sensor, you wont see anything on the viewfinder (for the viewfinder to work you need to close the lcd screen) but should at least see the indicators, same in the lcd screen and view your videos in playback mode. if its an lcd screen issue, there would be nothing coming up in any mode the camera is set to. you can try to reset cam back to default settings (press reset while cam is on, its located on the side where you have the handstrap, just below the speaker), or do power reset (remove the batt and ac adapter for at least a minute). if still the same, your unit may require service. thanks. hope this helps.
Ensure you are using fresh or fully
charged batteries. IMPORTANT: Batteries discharge more quickly when used in
cold weather conditions.
Attempt to turn on the
camera.
If the issue is not resolved, try replacing or
recharging the batteries if available.
Attempt to turn on the
camera in Playback/Edit mode by moving the mode switch to the
Playback/Edit mode or by pressing the playback button.
Switch
the unit to camera mode and attempt to turn on the camera.
If
the issue is not resolved, try connecting the AC power adapter to the
camera and a working electrical outlet. NOTE: Skip this step if the camera being used does not
support the use of an A/C adaptor.
Attempt to turn
on the camera.
Remove the Battery, press the power button for 30 seconds.
Please wait for one minute, insert the Battery and turn it on.
The troubleshooting
steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all
of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required. [[]]
It sounds like you may be in "Fast Frame Rate" video mode. Turn on the camera to video mode, then press right/left to select normal 640 pixel video. (Depending on the camera model, you may or may not have to press "Func" or "Func Set" first).
Hi There, Try this: Connect you camcorder to your tv set via a/v input cable. Put camera in cam mode so you can see the picture on the tv. Turn up the volume on tv and if it squeels, the mic on the cam is ok. Record something and then play it back on the tv, if its ok, then all your audio is functioning. This means that the SPEAKER on your camera is defective.
Thanks, mr cicmo
Lens unit problem. Either imact or sand etc in the lens zooming gearbox area. Maybe uneconomical to repair on this model if new lens unit has to be installed. ( it is shutting off because the lens does not come on line properly and so the shutter and CCD do not come on line... when this happens camera switches off. )
