SZD27MW - Freezer Fan not working - temp runs 40 midway in freezer

Amana Side-by-Side Refrigerator SZD27MW The bottom of the freezer compartment will keep ice frozen, top portion is warm 38-44. Refer section stays at 50. Freezer fan does not come on, there is a fan going by the condenser coils. Tried unplugging the freezer section thermostat, and jumping the wires, that did help. Any ideas? What voltage is across the freezer fan?

Voltage is either 240V or 110V either way it is stamped on the fan motor. You have a sensor controlling the fan and heater which could have gone open circuit and on some cabinets they use the neutral through the heater to bring in the fan so you could have a heater gone. You can bypass the sensor but this should not be a long term solution as it is a safety mechanism. Hope this helps.

If this is "side by side" make sure that you haven't blocked the vents between the freezer and the refrigerator compartments with too much food. The refrigerator compartment is totally dependent on cold air from the freezer and if those vents are blocked, odd things begin to happen. Hope the solution is this simple.

Amana ARB2517CC Freezer is running same temp as refrigerator 45-50 degrees. Any thoughts?

Check your coils underneath for build up, check the condensor fan to see if it is running underneath, check your evaporator fan in the freezer. good luck.

Accuracy is important --Use a digital thermometer to monitor freezer and fridge temps. Fridge should be around 40 and freezer around zero and then take it from there and draw conclusions

Amana evaporative fan intermittent

I would first suspect that the fan motor shaft just has gunk on it keeping it from starting -- clean & lubricate both ends of the motor.

If this doesn't solve the problem, it's the motor start capacitor -- could be inside the motor housing or could be outboard, connected to it via the wiring harness. A capacitor is a lot cheaper than a fan...

If your bottom freezer has ice build up, (you will see it frosted up), you do not have proper air flow. Check to see if your defrost elements are working. They are in the freezer compartment. in the evaporator. There is a defrost timer on the bottom of your fridge. You can turn the knob until the refergerator turns off, then listen in the frezzer compartment to se if the elements are working. (You will hear them sizzle)

Amana BX22A2W - freezer works, fridge not cooling

Same problem here with an Amana refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. I removed the back panels and vacuumed dust and cat hair out. The back panel in the freezer was frosted over with ice on the bottom. I removed the shelves and food and used a hairdryer to loosen the panel. The ice maker made it harder to remove the plastic panel so I pulled it back and saw the cooling fins frozen solid. I used the hairdryer to melt the ice and a shop vacuum to collect the water. It works like new again.
