Samsung PS42S5hX Every now and then the bottom half of the screen goes completely black, flashing at first, then at certain times remains black throughout until I switch the TV off and on again.
Thanks for your solution, having read a few more problems I have tryed tapping the side of the TV and this removes and brings back the black lower part of the screen, could this also mean that it is probably a loose connection/solder joint and would this be on one of the boards that you mentioned, either the Y main board or lower buffer board? Thanks for your solution, having read a few more problems I have tryed tapping the side of the TV and this removes and brings back the black lower part of the screen, could this also mean that it is probably a loose connection/solder joint and would this be on one of the boards that you mentioned, either the Y main board or lower buffer board?

If one half of the screen on a Samsung LED TV goes black and then the other side but one side always works, then it most likely means that there is an issue with the LCD panel or internal hardware of the TV. It is recommended to contact Samsung support and schedule a service appointment to have a technician check the TV for any potential repairs that may need to be done.

The color wheels will never fix an issue like that. The only things that will cause that issue is a bad DMD board which is part of the light engine or the digital board which is not. Freak Squad need to replace the digital board.
Check all the connections and if they are all right and tight then the monitor is probably shot. The good news is that it can be repaired. It's usually around $50.00 to $80.00 to fix. Good luck!
very simple
your problem in vertical section.
as you say that slight tap brings normal so there is no parts failure it is due to loose contact in vertical section mostly ele.capacitor in feedback ckt.
