Last night, my xbox 360 froze with a new game in the disc tray. I then swapped games to see if the problem was with the game. That's when i got 4 flashing red lights and now I can't fix it. I have tried to wipe off evrything and I even tried a new AV cable, but nothing works. PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!!!
4 red lights is not necessarily a hardware failure or ring of death. The cause is usually from AV cable not being detected or not connected correctly. The Eraser trick is good for Error 0102 make sure which error number you have! Suggested Solutions: 1. Try to connect and disconnect the cable and see if it makes any changes on the red lights status. Note that not inserting the AV fully will cause the 4 lights error to appear. 2. Make sure the AV Cable and the connector in the Xbox console are proper and there is nothing banded or twisted. 3. Try to connect it to a different monitor maybe this is where the problem is. 4. Find the metal area where it plugs into the console this is called the AV Pack metal area. Use a dry, lint-free cloth and wipe it. Then try to plug the AV again. * If you still can't make it to work and you have your warranty just send it in. If you don't have warranty I suggest trying the live chat support on Fixya!

FOUR RED LIGHTS is the video cables are bad. Most people are posting about the ring of dealth witch is 3 lights and means general hardware failure. Heat gun fixed my 3 lights. Been beating hours on the box for months since repair.....knock on wood!!!! Good luck . If a freind has a box try his cables to be for sure!!!

Turn off your xbox wait 5 mins take all the cords out (plug them out of tv and outlet) wait another 10-20 mins then plug everything back in and restart the box if not fixed go to the sites indicated in the above comment(s)

If you have tried replacing the AV cable then this could be indicative of a problem with the video scaler chip (closer to the common e74 error)
Unfortunately if this is the case there is no easy way to do this apart from opening up your console and fixing the solder connection problems on the video scaler chip that are causing the problem. Basically you will have to go about the process you would use when fixing the red light of death GPU error.
Because this is quite an in-depth problem to solve you will want to use video instructions etc; at my Microsoft Xbox 360 Repair Guide blog you can get step-by-step instructions on how to fix the 4 red lights error on your console - just read the section about fixing the red ring of death.

I had the same problem (4 red rings) with my xbox360. I sent it to my local repair shop. Turns out that even though it flashes 4 red rings, it doesn't necessarily means that it's the AV cable problem. Sometimes, it's actually an indication of the same problem as the 3 red rings of death. The graphics card heated up too much and melted. I had my xbox360 graphics card changed and now it's back up and running fine. To avoid the same problem, try changing a bigger fan for your xbox360. You can also maintain it by putting your xbox360 on the vertical position. It allows much more ventilation compared to when you put it horizontally. You can also do it the old way by switching on a table fan directly facing your xbox360's back (the place where you connect your power and AV switch). More importantly try not to play over 3 hours every time. And when you want to switch it off, DO NOT switch it off immediately. Terminate your game by going back to your xbox360 dashboard. Then, eject the game disc out. Leave your xbox360 running (without the game disc inside) for roughly 15 minutes. This actually allows the graphic cards to cool down slowly. After 15 minutes or so, you can turn off your xbox360. I have been doing this for quite sometime now and my xbox360 poses no more problems for me.

I started with this problem and it gradually got worse until it wouldn't even switch on, it just brought up a set of red lights on the front (360 ring of death). I had to send mine back to Microsoft and have the motherboard replaced. Google for ring of death on 360 and you'll see your machine is probably dead.

Was playing a game halfway when the screen froze and some sharp sound was emitted from the television speakers. I turn it off thinking it was the disc problem. So I restarted the console and reinsert the disc. Played for less than 2 minutes then the whole screen froze again. This time the 4 red lights started flashing. I turned the console off and the next time I tried to on it back, the 4 red lights started flashing non stop.
