Software download My software(cd) went bad and I now have a new pc with Vista Basic and I can't use my camera. Is there software to download online or must I purchase another software disc

Did you install the software that cam with the camera? it is on the CD. If you don;t have the CD anymore, sometimes the company allows you to download the software, after you registered the camera online.
If nothing helps, you also can use a external card reader on the PC and place the memory card in there. For that you only need the drivers that come with the external card reader.
If you would like to restore the pc back to factory settings, I suggest you use your recovery disks that would have been received with the PC or you would have created as part of the setting up process. If you do not have these then you would have to buy the software online or via a software retailer. There is no place online that you can legitimately download for free.
If you are loading Vista you use a bootable version of the CD which has all of the required drivers on it and an installation routine plus an un-install program.
Mr Gates does not do freebies and if you find a cracked copy on the net within weeks of putting it on you will be captured and shut out of downloads with nag screens coming at you all day.

You need to go to the manufactures site and download the VISTA
driver for the camera. Then follow the info below to install
the program.

Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall
the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you
to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.

If you are downloading the vista drivers, why are you loading the cd?
Just double click the driver download to install.
If you are wanting to install additional printer software that came on the driver cd, you can most likely download the software updates at the same place you downloaded the drivers.
