Hi! Can't locate the user manual for our office Nakajima AE-830 typewriter, and we can't figure out how to clear and reset margins. Have searched online for a user manual, but have not found anything. Thanks.

Re: margin clearing and resetting
You cannot "clear" the margins. You have a left margin and right margin. They MUST be set somewhere even if they are set at the extreme left and right of the carriage.
This part is IMPORTANT!!!
Some functions (like right margin or margin release) may be written in a different color or shade. If they are, you must hold down the CODE or FUNCTION key while touching that function. In any case, the CODE key or similar will be the same color as the function you are trying to access.
Get the printer where you want the margin to be. If you want the left margin set to the left of the current margin you will have use the MARGIN RELEASE key first. This may be labeled MREL or MAR REL or something similar. Backspace to where you want the margin to be then press the LMAR or LEFT MARGIN key. That will set the left margin at that point. Repeat the process for the right margin.
Hope that helps

Sounds like you also don't have a manual....press the "code" key until the little arrow in the display sits above the NP indicator.
You can download a manual for a Nakajima AE-830 ( ITS THE SAME MACHINE.) from www.nadist.com
Tab to the position press tab clear. Perhaps the tab you can't clear is really the right margin, to move that tab to it press and release the margin release key, space to the location you like, press R. mar.
On the L. side of the T/W ketboard are the keysmar left, mar right, tab set, tab clear and mar rel. Space to the location thayou want th R. mar and press right mar key, if it stops at the R. mar. press and release the mar rel key. To clear tabs tab to the one you want cleared and press tab clear. To set a tab space to the position and press tab set.
