Well I ran that crucial memory scan and it claims my pc can handle 2 gb, sad thing is now at 1.5 it is doing the exact same thing , after it sits awhile, i had a 256 and a 512 before and never had any of these problems. Any things i should change in the boot menu or any othr help would be greatly appriciated. thank you. John

The Motherboard may be limited in how much RAM it can address. Check the computer upgrade & service guide, which can be downloaded from Dell Support if you don't have it.

Though I could not find it I am guessing that you mother board BIOS was programmed to read no more that 1.5 GB Ram.

Though I could not find it I am guessing that you mother board BIOS was programmed to read no more that 1.5 GB Ram. It originally only came with 256k of ram.
You might want to read page 54 of your manual.  http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim3000/en/index.htm#printed_documentation

Dell Dimension 3000 blue screen error with writing that say attemp to fix windows

First of all you have to identify the blue screen error code. Blue screen errors normally occurs due to infected windows files. You need to scan PC to remove malwares, junk and virus.
Also update the drivers that control your PC.

To fix this problem instantly use system optimization tool like Reginout.

I have a blue screen and when I try to boot from cd my keyboard is not working on Dell dimension 3000. I can't type my password in. I have had 7 password failures.

Hello
If the keyboard is USB then try with PS/2 keyboard, the USB keyboard normally gives that kind of problem (blue screen and no typing)

How much ram memory can i put into a dell dimension 3000?

On a Dell Dimension 3000, there are 2 memory slots.
The maximum RAM memory capacity is 2 GB or 2048 MB.
For prices and availability of parts and upgrades for this system, call 1-800-357-3355, which is the sales dept of Dell.
(I am presuming that you are in the USA).

Added 2g to a dell dimension 3000, only 1g recognized

Dell has a really good support site. You log on, enter your service tag number (on the top of side of your PC) and they will tell you exactly how much ram you support, the type of ram needed and how many slots it has. If it was a matching pair then it should be working, unseat it and reseat it, it may not be in all the way. If still don't show then put it back in the old computer and see if it reads it. If not then the RAM stick got damaged during the move. But no doubt you should be able to handle more that 1GB of RAM. Good Luck, let me know if you have any questions.

Too slow

Dell states that your PC takes DDR 400 SDRAM PC3200. It can take up to 2 GB but you didn't say how much you had at the moment. Dell offers 512 MB and 1 GB at the above link. I personally use NewEgg for my hardware so I've included a link there for comparison. I would recommend maxing out at 2 GB if you can afford it but any more than what you have will help.
