Re: need help viewing all public television channels
Your TV is set for standard broadcast.
You need to go to the set up menu and change from antenna/normal to cable mode.
In standard broadcast mode you receive off the air programs 2-13 vhf and 14-83 uhf.
In the cable you receive 2-13 and cable channels 14 -125 if the set is not too old.
When cable channels first came out some sets would just cover 14- 36 or 14- 47 or 14-66 etc.
The newer sets cover the now standard cable channels 14-125. Hope this helps you

I think you can use the channel up arrow and it will go into an auto-scan mode. At least that's what I was able to do when I was having my problems with the cable/sat now working. I had to find a way to get it into Cable mode vs TV mode. I think if your tv is in TV mode, this might work. worth a try at least.
Ur tv have a manual Menu button on the front of the tv bazel frame?Yes used that manually Menu button pushes go into the tv menu to find select CABLE do autosearches by hand through a manually selected by functions buttons like channels buttons up and down as selections and menu button as enter to excicute functions. No try website like Remotes.com to buy the tv original remote to used.
If the screen is dark, then the brightness and contrast adjustment must be poor. Use the MENU key (in the TV or the Remote, either) adjust the brightness and contrast as per your viewing convenience. Service manual for this model is not in my knowledge and you should not try to repair or troubleshoot it by yourself without proper knowledge of the circuit workings inside.
NTSC is the (analog) standard passing into history in Feb. '09 and ATSC is the new digital standard being used afterward for over-the-air (reception by antenna) broadcasts.
This changeover affects only the broadcast channels and if you have cable or satellite reception the changeover will happen whenever they find they can't charge their captive audience such a high premium for HD.
I found no evidence that your set is ATSC ready so if you are receiving your signal by antenna, you need to scurry about and buy a converter for your set.
