My remote has gotten moody. Sometimes it works the receiver and sometimes it doesn't. Thought it might be the remote so I purchased another one with no luck. So, now I assume it's a problem with the receiver. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same trouble.
thanks...

Just to state the obvious, I would hope that you have made sure that nothing is in the way of the remote photo RECIEVER window on the main unit, like a knick knack, book, or dust, and that the new remote has batterys installed? Otherwise I guess it will take a trip to the repair shop.

if it works intermittenly then the remote dosent need reprogrammed. SOoooo....
line of site comes to mind. your box needs to see what your remote shoots out. sometimes something ends up in front of the reciever spot on the cable box (FYI: a flashlight at the right angle can help find the sweet spot on most devices)
maybe the dvr is going bad watch EVERYTHING you want to see one last time and have it swapped (like death, you can't take anything with you)
good luck (I hope its just a line of sight problem)
Believe it or not, sometimes things just randomly happen. Remote controls operating using infrared light and coded commands, and sometimes sheer dumb luck results in the TV deciding it's gotten a remote command. This is sometimes more frequent in homes where CFL replacement lamps are in use. The way they work can sometimes cause interference with some remotes, and can confuse the TV as well.
Sounds to me like the issue is the rx in the unit. It can be fixed with very little work if you can locate the part. Let me take a look and see if I can locate the part number for you. Although I have to say that Kenwwod can keep a tight lip on their parts lists.
