Help with DI 524

Hi I have a DI 524 that was working a week ago and then I did not use it last week. Now I started to use it and I reset the unit by pressing the button inside the back of the unit. Now, when I connect to the power, I see all the lights on. It has 4 output ports and one input port. And the Power WAN and 1,2,3 and 4 lights are on. Steady. Not even blinking. WHat is wrong with this. Is it messed up and I have to get another one?? Or is there a solution someone can help me with. THanks Sunny

Start your router, and keep and hold pressing on the "reset" until it resets by itself. This will reset the router to defaults. If the lights got back to work normally again, then you are ready to go. you can access your router by directing your browser to http://192.168.0.1 Admin as user and blank as password Download this manual to get you going on configuring your router ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/di524_revc/Manual/DI-524_manual_06292005.zip Goodluck

I cannot connect wireless or wired on my Dlink Di-524..;pls help

hi there,

Hard reset the router (you would see a hole when you flip the router over insert tooth pick or pin for 30 seconds and restart the connection)

Swap the micro filters(spilter, the one which is connected to telephone socket)

If it is not working call your Internet service provider.

Hi, My d-link dl-604 suddenly stopped working. When I plug it in, only the power led and #4 lights are up. None of the other leds are responding nor the internet is not working as well. Please help. Thanks

The following reset procedure will completely restore the default settings on your D-Linkmag-glass_10x10.gif device including your password. This procedure applies to the DI-514, DI-524, DI-604, DI-614+, DI-624, DI-754, DI-764, DI-774, DI-784, DI-804V, DWL-700AP, DWL-800AP+, DWL-900AP+, DWL-1000AP+, DWL-2000AP, DWL-2100AP, DWL-6000AP, DWL-7000AP, and DWL-7100AP.

Step 1 Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the unit.

Step 2 With the unit powered on, press and hold the Reset button.

Step 3 Hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds.

Step 4 Release the Reset button.

Step 5 The unit will reboot. Allow 20-30 seconds before reconnecting.

Step 6 The device is now at factory defaults.

Note: Do not recycle power during the reset procedure.

The default user name for most D-Link devices is admin and the password is left blank.

Hope this helps! Give me thumbs please!

I have a d-link model DI-524 that stopped working for my laptop I try to connect but is saying it cannot recognize the dns

Let's try to first fully reset your router to factory settings to see if we can get rid of any bad settings that may be causing issues. I borrowed all of the following from the technicallyeasy.net walkthroughs already written about:
"fcb6ce0.gif
To reset your router, use the following steps:
  1. Press the reset button for 10 seconds. You can use a small object, such as a paper clip to hold down the button.
  2. Do not power off the unit while the router is being reset.
The unit should now reboot, and once the WLAN light stops blinking the router should be reset.
  3. (Added by me) Plug your laptop directly into one of the ethernet ports on the back of the router with a standard CAT5e or CAT6 patch cable
  4. Open up your Web browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.
  5. For the login, enter admin as the ID and leave the password blank.
The router has now been reset. Follow the steps in Securing D-Link DI-524 Wireless Router to secure your router.

SummaryThis post has provided the instructions you can use to reset your D-Link DI-524 wireless router. If you are having problems with your router, try reseting the router to the factory defaults, and then make the changes again and see if the router starts working."

About a week ago, my internet was working fine with my router. Now, its not. I tried putting my cable from my modem into the WAN socket and it doesnt work

1.Try connecting the PC directly to the modem ( not router ) and see if it helps 2. If it does, try to reset the router once and try configuring again ( reset gets teh product back to factory defaults )
Hope this helps
Thanks

No power for DI-524

Have you tried the reset feature, small button near the power port.

Hold it down for thirty seconds with the unit unplugged. If that doesn't work you may need to buy a new router as something may have failed some time ago and just not been noticed until it was turned off.

Try the reset, but I suspect whatever killed your modem likely killed the router at the same time.

Hope this Helps FixYa,

Chris

Disabled dhcp, cant access router with browser

the default ipaddress for that is 192.168.0.1 you will need to set your computer with a ip address like 192.168.0.2 then you should be able to access it. be sure to change your computer back to DHCP after you reset the router

Di-524 setup

Reset the DI-524 to its factory default settings and restore the other devices on your network to their default settings. You may do this by pressing the Reset button on the back of the unit. You will lose the current configuration settings. Also be sure to unplug the modem the plug it back in afterwards, a reboot of all devices on network maybe good idea also.
