It sounds that there is some arcing takes place inside it. High voltage arcing will produce and Ozone smell. Contact any TV technician. Never use this set at this condition. It might lead to more fault to internal circuit components.

SOURCE: Sony 36' TV Volume Goes up on own/Stuck on Video 2

Hi -

I had the exact same problem recently with my SONY Trinitron 27 inch TV! After trying everything, I found that pushing the Up and Down volume controls on the TV panel (ie NOT on the remote) at the same time, the problem went away. I hope that this helps!

SOURCE: SONY WEGA KV-36HS420 will not come on

The blinking is an indication that the set detected a problem. The code usually indicates a bad regulator circuit. If yu can solder, you can probably fix this your self. Please let me know if you wish to attempt the repair. If not, expect a parts cost in the $25-$40 range plus the local labor rate for the repair.

TV made a big popping sound, and then a crackling

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php That crackling sound could be of the color wheel:The color wheel is a rotating disc that has a gamma of colors it spins at high rpms. The light of the lamp goes through it to create the colors on your tv.When it starts to go bad you will get color distortion ,black and white picture and sometimes you will hear humming noises. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is BP9601073A you can find original here:http://www.discount-merchant.com/Samsung-BP96-01073A-lamp-p/samsung-bp96-01073a-lamp-oem.htm?Click=48173 .Have a blessed one!

RCA D52W19 "crackles" and smells like its burning

Hello pmzone_guard, This problem is quite common in this TV it's due to a capacitor in the power supply being overloaded. The chassis model is a ITC222. The capacitor is located on the deflection board which is part of the power supply and should not be touch by someone that does not have TV Repair Experience, due to the fact that this area of the TV is the most dangerous. I would suggest having a qualified TV repair technician do the repair on this TV. If the problem is just that one capacitor the part will cost about $2.50 at the most, so the charge will be the cost of the part plus the labor involved. I hope this helps, Thank you, Shuttle83 http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com

Crackling noise

I think I have solved the problem. I dusted the tv completely. Then took the cable box and with a hair dryer in the cool setting blew out the interior circuits to try to remove all dust. Turned the set on no more crackling. Thanks for the posting.

Crackling noise from tv

That crackling noise has nothing to do with the television and everything to do with your antenna. It is merely signal breakdown, when you get signal interference with analogue tv you get snow, with digital you get little squares on the screen and/or sound breaking and cutting in and out, get a licensed antenna repairer to come out check your signal strength as you may need a booster or your antenna could just be a few degrees off....

After a while the system starts crackling and eventually sound deteriorates to thundering in speakers

Hi, I have exactly the same prob and I belive that it is in the amp module?! I am going to take mine in for repair as my other sony HT amp has just give up the ghost, (STR-DE435), it has a protector prob and is probably not worth repairing, although it is a great amp. If anyone knows the solution to this prob it would be great to hear it!!!
