Question about Toshiba Tecra 740CDT Notebook

2 Answers

Battery/Power problem Hey. I have a 740CDT that I dug up. Well, here's to say that it dosn't power up. I created a makeshift DC charger giving it 9V to at least trickle charge it. Anyway, I try to power it up and only the LED that indicates the battery status lights up amber. Could it be the charger? Should I look for a higher voltage DC wall wart? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry, not very timely response, but the sticker on the bottom of my 740CDT, which I picked up this morning, specifies a 15VDC source at 2.7 Amps. (Mine also has no power or charger.) Good luck.

Many toshiba laptops used a 15 volt supply, but look at he label attached to the bottom of the unit. it should spell out what voltage and what current (in amps). if a 15 volt supply is used that can only supply 100 milliamps, while the laptop needs more than 1000 milliamps, the laptop will play dead

Adapter from power cord gets power, but is not charging samsung rv511 laptop

Step 1:
b> If your laptop charger seems broken, it's most likely because the battery will not charge. You plug in the cord, the lights come on, but the charging light doesn't change or blinks repeatedly. When you remove the power cord, the laptop shuts off instantly due to the depleted battery. There's more than one cause for this, and it's not always a broken charger.

Check the connection between the charger and the laptop. It should fit firmly in the DC jack without wiggling. If it is loose, use electrical tape to hold it in place so the charger can receive power. This is a temporary fix, however, because a faulty connection can create sparks and cause a fire or injury. A loose connection will just get worse over time, so have it sent to a DC jack specialist as soon as possible. Turn off the laptop and flip it upside down. Locate the latch that secures the battery and slide open. The battery should pop out; give it a tug if it doesn't. Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol (Methylated Spirits)to the tip of a cotton swab and use it to clean the battery's connectors. Dirt can build up and interfere with the connection, giving the appearance of a broken charger. Let the alcohol dry completely and re-insert the battery. Slide the latch to secure it and plug in the power cord to test it. See if the laptop powers on with the charger only and battery removed. If it does, the battery is the likely culprit and should be replaced. If the charger is truly broken, the only thing to do is to replace it or the power cord attached to it. Look on the bottom and write down the part number. Call the laptop manufacturer for a replacement charger or search for the part number on eBay. If you purchase from anyone other than the original manufacturer, ask for genuine parts to reduce the possibility of problems. Troubleshoot Mag Safe adaptors

I need to know how to disassemble a rubiks touchcube to replace the battery

Check out my photobucket album. It's a bit of work, but I was able to reuse all the pins. Don't pry it open or you'll break the pin holders. Also, check your charger. Mine was putting out 15v instead of 9v so I replaced it. The stand has voltage protection, so that probably won't make much of a difference.

My magellen 3100 battery will not charge

its probably not charging...very common problem with this and many others.

make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (upto ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

the following magellan 2000,2200t,2500,3000,3100,3140,4000,4040,4050 and the 6000 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...

you can get it repaired, here
or buy the port here

if you need further help, just let me know.

Since i just mess around with amplifiers i have a new one hooked up to a battery charger and it will make wierd sounds and then cut off

hey trevor

If its car amps yo messing with, you need to drop a car battery(even a suspect one will do it) across the charger as well to "tank" the ripple off the power from the charger. Even though the charger is DC, it is what we call unsmoothed, providing power that is like pulsed DC power. Most chargers are also not that high power and will sag when you crank up the amp. The battery will provide enough juice to carry the current drawer This is exactly what I use in the past for repairing high power amps on the bench. If you have any questions, happy to help you out. Cheers
