Compaq presario sr5030nx no video

do you have wireless capabilities (namely a wireless pc card plug in into one of pci slots or are connecting via category 5 rj45 cable (standard 8pin network cable with what would look like a smaller 4pin telephone plug in)?
How are you trying to allow the router to communicate with the pc?

On pressing the power on my compaq presario CQ50-215NR laptop the screen would come on with several large colour bands then it goes completely black. I need help.

My compaq presario sr5030nx is a really horrible desktop computer i have used it for 3 years i am realy farmiliar with it and have browsed site all day trying to find a way to fix or identify my problem...

In this case the good solution would be to reinstall the operating system using a CD/DVD with windows, and to format all local disks. Or, buy a HDD DOC-station, and scan your HDD on an other computer using the antivirus, then delete all infected files. Even your original system would work.

Compaq presario sr5030nx: This a Desktop? If so,Is the monitor plugged in, turned on, working, test with another machine, check the cabling from monitor to tower, unplug and inspect for bent pins. first. Now , when you say ,"compaq presario sr5030nx no video" and "black screen", do you mean your video player is not playing?
