Check what kind of interface that your camera have, these are the possiblities: Hardware powwibilities: 1. i-link or firewire or IEEE-1394: all three are the same depending on the brand. This is the common woth DV cameras. If you have this, you have to have the same interface in your PC. You have to install an interface card. 2. USB 2.0- it has to be 2.0, ver 1.1 is slow and will not be capable of hi res transfer. If you have this, your PC should have this interface as well. 3. Analog AV- Here you have to buy a video capture card, it may be via USB or PCI slot. In any of the setup you will be needing a video authoring software. There are a lot available in the net and it is also free when you buy a video capure card or module. After you capture the video, you have to burn it in the DVD, you can use Nero. Can I transfer video tapes onto CD's

A lot depends on what type of video tape you use and where do you want to play the DVDs (CDs are for audio recording only). If tape is compact VHS then you can buy a simple DVD Recorder VHS VCR combo player and transfer across easily provided you have the compact VHS cassette module.

For other type of video camera tapes you will have to try other methods like connect camera with tape to a DVD recorder and directly burn the DVDs. You can buy attachments and software for PC but I have found these very cumbersome to work with.

How do I hook up my vcr to my dvd recorder so I

You will need one RCA video cable it will have a yellow, red and white plugs. On the back of your VCR locate where the color inputs are find where it says VIDEO OUT hook it up there. On the back of the DVD Recorder look for the same color input jacks NOW find where it says VIDEO IN hook it up there. You may have to turn on your TV,DVD recorder and VCR to get the right channel. your Recorder may have one or more video inputs if it does turn on all three. Use the channel on your TV you use to watch DVDs make sure you see your DVD screen. Now to record to a DVD. Change the channel on the DVD Recorder. Look for the input channels It may be Video 1 Video 2 etc... depends on the inputs you have. ( A great way to tune your DVD Recorder is to play a prerorded VCR tape. Turn the channel on your DVD Recorder unil you see the prereorded tape playing. )

Connect DVD recorder to Video player/recorder- transfer VHStodisc

hook the video output from vcr to dvd input at rear, then hook output from dvd to tv input. note; you can not record protected vcr movies you can only record tv shows from sattelite to vcr or dvd recorder. its best to record straight from sattelite to dvd recorder for picture clarity.

How to record a VHS tape to a DVD disc

Read your manual first to make sure the unit will do this.If it does chances are it won't record unless it has a decoder built in.Most VHS tapes have macrovision protection that prevents you from copying them.It will however, record homemade VHS tapes. There are decoders out there you can buy to enable you to copy VHS tapes.

Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.
